Core Values

We, the members of Uckfield Baptist Church, believe that as followers of Jesus Christ we should be:

Worshipping

1.  Worshipping God with all our heart and all our soul and all our strength and all our mind.
2.  Worshipping God through a wholehearted expression of trust and faith in Him.
3.  Worshipping God by being willing to explore refreshing ways to worship.

Loving

1.  Loving others unconditionally as Christ did.
2.  Loving others by encouraging and enabling them.

Sharing

1.  Sharing with others by extending hospitality.
2.  Sharing with others by giving and not counting the cost.
3.  Sharing with others the Gospel in word and action.
4.  Sharing with others in an environment of trust.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”  (Matt 22:37-40)

Putting our Core Values into practice:

Worshipping

1.  Under the power of the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves to worshipping God with all our heart and all our soul and all our strength and all our mind, so that our lives demonstrate our love of God through Jesus Christ; emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually. (Matt 23:37, Luke 10:27, Deut 6:5)
2.  Under the power of the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves to worshipping God through a wholehearted expression of trust and faith in Him by:
      a.  Being passionate about God through Jesus Christ. (Acts 4:12)
      b.  Walking with God wherever He will take us.
      c.  Meeting together regularly as a prayerful community. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
3.  Under the power of the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves to exploring refreshing ways to worship that encourage and enable others to meet with God, where they are, so that they can follow Him as disciples.

Loving

1.  Under the power of the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves to loving others unconditionally as Christ did: (John 13:34-35 and 1 Cor 13:4-7)
      a.  Without prejudice.
      b.  Without counting the cost.
      c.  Without giving up.
2.  Under the power of the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves to loving others by building them up though encouraging and enabling. (Acts 11:23)

Sharing

1.  Under the power of the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves to sharing with others in extending hospitality by:
      a.  Welcoming both strangers and friends as Christ did.
      b.  Ensuring that no one goes away without being offered hospitality.
2.  Under the power of the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves to sharing with others by giving but not counting the cost through the use of our God given resources of money, time and skills both personal and corporate. (Acts 2)
3.  Under the power of the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves to sharing with others the Gospel in word and action by:
      a.  Telling the story of Jesus Christ.
      b.  Following Christ’s example. (Luke 4:18)
4.  Under the power of the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves to creating an environment of trust where people can share with others without fear.
